Writerly Things

My new novella (40,000 words) The Scarecrow & Lady Kingston is NOW available on Kindle on Amazon.com. Today I put the finishing touches on the print edition cover in Adobe InDesign. I'm new to InDesign, but it's pretty intuitive if you have basic Photoshop skills. I am enjoying learning knew things as I go. This is only the second cover I've done in InDesign. The first was for my philosophy book on Ignosticism. Anyway, be sure to check out the new book if you get a chance. It's comedic noir, and a genre buster of a book! I wrote it to be a fun mystery and comedy, two things which are really damn hard to write well. I think I did okay for my first attempt at both. But I've had this story in my head for 10 years, when I first thought of the characters one day while walking through Washington Square Park in New York City. I talk more about it in the acknowledgements in the back of the book. I dedicated this book to my father, who passed away last year at 60. He always supported me, and he's the one who took me to NYC all those years ago, and he's the one who bought me the computer that I wrote the book on, so it goes out to him. I'm just saddened that he never got to see it.

Tristan VickBy day I am an educator and a cultural ambassador. By night I entertain notions of being a literary master. In reality I am just a family man and ordinary guy who works hard and loves writing just about as much as I love my family. Just about. AVAILABLE NOWNEWSLETTER
