As I wait for season 2 of The Expanse to get underway, I was really itching for a straight up hard sci-fi. Luckily HBO delivered with a re-imagining of Michael Crichton's Westworld by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (the creators and current showrunners for this series). Now, the cast is phenomenal. The show stars Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler), Thandie Newton (2012), Jeffrey Wright (Casino Royale), James Marsden (X-Men), Ed Harris (The Rock), and Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs). It's produced by director J.J. Abrams. That's one hell of an ensamble cast, if you ask me. But the show is already delving deep into the nature of artificial intelligence and the growing pains of become self-aware -- sentient. I could go on talking about how impressed I am with this show, its cast, its production design, its writing... but just take a look at this trailer featuring Thandie Newton's character Maeve and see for yourself. I for one will be tuning in until the show's end. With the quality demonstrated so far, I know I'm in good hands. This could very well turn out to be HBO's next big hit. Or, if you don't buy into the hype, it may very well prove itself to be an understated masterpiece. I guess time will tell. The release of BITTEN 2: Land of the Rising Dead went live. New content, new ending, 55K to 75K words. It's almost a whole new book!
You can get it for $4.99 on Amazon.com. The paperback will be out next week. TOMORROW (October 9) 5 PM (CDT) -- U.S. Central time -- to 10 PM (CDT) will be the official TOKYO'S LOST SOULS release party on Facebook. Here's a link to the release party events page: https://www.facebook.com/events/309415976078389/ As you may have guessed, I'll be doing book giveaways of my books every hour on the hour. Additionally, I'll be doing a live Facebook feed, live Tweeting, and will answer any questions related to writing, books, what I'm currently reading, what television shows I'm currently watching, and anything about Japan (where I live).
So join the fun! Tomorrow, on Facebook, at 5 PM central time (7:00 AM Japan time). See you there! I wasn't allowed to use the old Scarecrow & Lady Kingston cover due to legal issues with Permuted Press regarding the rights of who owned the artwork. So I had to design a new cover. This is what I came up with.
So far the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Three for three of my fellow book designers has told me they like this cover better than the last one. I wish I could show you the old cover to compare, but I don't want to get into any kind of legal trouble. Anyway, let me know what you think. I was going for a very Noir kind of feel. The paperback will drop simultaneously with e-Book on October 6th 2016, if all goes according to plan. Stay tunes for more updates from my exciting new imprint Regolith Publications. |
